May 2010
(as seen in the Scottsdale Airpark News)
Movies in theaters are alive and well as Hollywood
continues to release some very exciting films. Why see these films
in a theater instead of at home on your great home theater system?
Some movies are best experienced on a massive screen with amazing
sound, with audience interaction, or maybe that guilty pleasure
-- with hot liquid butter poured all over that big bag of popcorn.
There could be one annoyance though -- deciding just what to see,
given there are often four or more new movies released every week.
So with your busy life, if you could see just one newly released
movie per week, which four in May should they be?

For the
weekend of May 7, it is “Iron Man 2”,
starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle,
Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johannson, and Samuel
L. Jackson, directed by Jon Favreau. Genre: Action / Adventure,
rated PG-13. Plot: On one side is Justin Hammer (Rockwell),
a fast-talking weapons manufacturer who fancies himself the
next Tony Stark; on the other is Vanko (Rourke), who, while
incarcerated in a Russian prison, creates his own battle-suit,
which shoots devastating whip-like beams. Hammer and Whiplash
join forces to take Stark down. Adding more flesh and blood
is Stark's mysterious new assistant, Natasha (Johansson),
who has an alter ego of her own, Black Widow. That introduction
inevitably sparks romantic tension between Stark and former
assistant Pepper Potts (Paltrow), who's been promoted to CEO
of Stark Industries. Also showing in IMAX.

Casino Jack and the United States
of Money, and Mother and Child. |

goes awry and Shrek is sent to a different world version

Away as though he had barely existed. That translates into

ruling the kingdom. Also showing in IMAX 3D.

Furthermore, gong to the movies still gives you the most entertainment
“bang for the buck” when compared to a similar two hour
venture at any professional sporting event, play or music performance.
See you at the movies!
Note: While the release dates & ratings for
these movies were correct at the time of printing, studios sometimes
make last-minute changes. If this happens, we apologize for any
inconvenience.
