Novenmber 2008
(as seen in the Scottsdale Airpark News)
Movies in theaters are alive and well as Hollywood
continues to release some very exciting films. Why see these films
in a theater instead of at home on your great home theater system?
Some movies are best experienced on a massive screen with amazing
sound, with audience interaction, or maybe that guilty pleasure
-- with hot liquid butter poured all over that big bag of popcorn.
There could be one annoyance though -- deciding just what to see,
given there are often four or more new movies released every week.
So with your busy life, if you could see just one newly released
movie per week, which four in November should they be?

For the weekend of November 14, and the Scottsdale Airpark
Movie of the Month, it is “Quantum of Solace”,
starring Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko (Max Payne), Judi Dench
(Casino Royale), Gemma Arterton (RocknRolla), Jeffrey Wright
(Casino Royale), Jesper Christensen (Casino Royale), directed
by Marc Forster (The Kite Runner). Genre: action thriller,
rated PG-13. The plot: this picks up an hour after the previous
film's (Casino Royale) ending, which finds Bond confronting
Mr. White, the man responsible for the death of the woman
Bond loved. It surrounds an all-powerful shadow organization
called Quantum, which has agents in MI6, and involves Bolivia's
water supply and a phony environmental corporation. An extra
element is Bond's single-minded quest to avenge the death,
adding significant emotion, and was such a novelty in "Casino
Royale". This forged Bond into a new kind of secret agent,
one who was raw and reactionary.
The other three movies opening this weekend are: Assassination
of a High School President, Slumdog Millionaire,
and Soul Men. |
